I had a wonderful experience at the Serenic View B&B. Rita made me feel so at home while I was going through a tough time, and I was very grateful. She made a wonderful breakfast and her cinnamon buns are to die for! She was very friendly and accommodating to my needs. The rooms were clean and private and I loved the antique feel to the place. Rita told me about the mineral spa where I had a great time. The beach was very peaceful, and I enjoyed a nice long walk with gorgeous weather. I later went to a cute small town type bar and sat on the patio, the heaters kept me warm and I loved the lights. Going back I was able to watch TV, and then climb into a very comfortable bed. I am looking forward to staying there again in the future! Great place to get away and get some reading done, I highly recommend!

A friend and I went to Watrous/Manitou for a weekend getaway to relax at the mineral pool and take in some activities in the area. I'm not one to complain or to leave reviews but our experience at Serenic View warrants some kind of response. We booked over the phone and agreed to a room for $120 paid in cash only. When we arrived, Rita was unsure of where to put us, saying her husband gave the two-bed room to another woman. We said we were fine with any room and didn't mind sharing a bed. After some bustling about, Rita went to get one guest and got her to move her things out of her room and into another, and then gave the now-vacant room to us. We apologized to the other guest for her inconvenience and started getting settled when Rita knocked at our door 5 minutes later asking to be paid. We went to fetch our cash out of our purses when she informed us it would actually be $140 since the room she put us in had 2 beds. We were a little hesitant to pay that since we originally agreed to $120 and 1 bed. Rita offered that if we chose just to share one bed and not use the second (she didn't want the hassle of doing the laundry) she would only charge us $120. Very strange and not very hospitable, but we agreed and paid the $120. She then grabbed a room divider screen and placed it in front of the second bed in order to create an obstacle for us to attempt to use it (or as she said - so nothing gets blown down). She left and 5 minutes later knocked at the door again giving us the keys to our room. She left and 5 minutes later knocked at the door again and told us not to open the windows because there was no air conditioning. We left to the mineral pool and for dinner and when we came back a couple of hours later, there were a few new guests and Rita asked if we got her message. She said she had to move us to another room because four people arrived and she needed two beds. I'm not sure if this was extremely poor organization or if it was last minute bookings and Rita wanted to cash in on the extra money at the expense of her other guests, but it was totally inappropriate. She had taken all of our belongings out of our locked room which we had paid for, and moved them into another room without our consent. Throughout the entirety of this strange experience, we were very accommodating, but what happened next really upset us. We came directly home from the drive-in movie theatre around 12:30 or 1am and went to sleep. At 6:30am Rita knocked at our door and my friend answered. Rita said the rain was pouring in our windows and we had to close them. Our windows were closed. Rita said no, I saw the rain pouring in, you have to close them. My friend said she would double check but that she was sure they were closed. Rita left. Sure enough, all of our windows were closed. We struggled getting back to sleep and napped a short while before needing to get up for breakfast which was served at 830am. When we got up, Rita was surprised we hadn't slept in (we wanted breakfast of course) and my friend reiterated that the windows had in fact been closed. Rita was surprised and said it must have been another room. For it being a house that she lived in, and not any kind of multi-unit hotel, we were shocked that she didn't know which windows corresponded to which bedroom (we were 1 of 3 or 4). We made the best of our trip but were absolutely exhausted arriving home due to our very short and interrupted sleep. It wasn't any kind of relaxing vacation, that's for sure.Even if these strange, inconvenient, inhospitable, and inappropriate events hadn't occurred, I would not recommend this b&b. Rita was not knowledgable about any local activities or functions (even those occurring weekly) and could not give locations or directions for anything. The walls were extremely thin and there was a living room and tv directly outside the guest room doors, which did not help with sound whatsoever. Never again.
